Extra dimension

Paper Mario is a great example of extra dimensions. When he’s made of paper he is in the 2nd dimension and when he’s not made of paper he’s in the 3rd dimension. What are some things we notice in the game that might apply to real life? Well, when Mario is in his paper form he can still see the 3D objects but as he’s running along in his 2D form he is incapable of dodging the 3D objects because he can only move side to side and up and down, not back and forth. However when Mario is in his 3D form he is able to move back and forth because turning him 3D has added that extra dimension. Also, when he is in his 3D form, 2D objects appear almost invisible because they are paper thin. In reality if the ability to switch between dimensions were possible the 3D viewer would see the 2D person and invisible because the 2D person simply does not have an edge to view. So if you were to simply look at the 2D person from another angle would you see them? Probably not, because they are in the 2D and it is impossible to be behind something or someone if you were 2D and because from their view you are 2D it would also be impossible to stand in front or behind them.

So this would mean that it is possible that there is life all around us existing in lesser dimensions. They would see us wondering around, passing through them as if they didn’t even exist. They might already know about higher dimensions or they might be wondering what we are and why we don’t see them or they might of simply accepted the fact that we exists. We may never know.

Timothy McGee

I don’t have a clue how I got here. I was on the bus on my way to work when I found a small stone on my seat. It looked like it had some sort of weird writing on it. When I picked it up I was sitting in this room with the stone in my hand. The sudden change of scenery startled me. I looked up from the stone to see that I was in what seemed to be a science lab. It was different from the computer labs I was use to. The room itself looked like it was built by some of the smartest scientists. The walls were an ugly orange color but the lighting in the room had a blue glow. At first I thought it might have been an archeology lab when I saw all the artifacts. Then I saw the sheets of glass hanging on the wall. Something had projected an image onto the screen but there was no sign of any sort of projector. What sort of advanced technology was this? I heard the voice of a man behind me with a very strong Czechoslovakian accent. “McKay? Are you alright,” he said. I didn’t know who MaKay was. I turned back to look at the man. He had somewhat long, dark brown hair and wore glasses. The man didn’t smile, it was as though I had hurt him. He almost looked frightened of me.

“McKay?” I asked. “My name is not McKay but McGee.”

“Yes, that’s your name,” he looked at me with a slightly concerned look on his face. I looked at one of the closer glass screens. I could see a reflection of a man staring back at me that I didn’t recognize. The man looked back at me with his blue eyes. He had short dark hair. I realized that this must have been the McKay the Czech man spoke of. How did I end up in this man’s body? I looked back at the other man standing behind me.

“Yes, of course,” I said. I figured that maybe I could get out of this situation before they figured out that I’m not their man. I would hate it if they had to erase my memory or something like that. In the movies brainwashing is always painful. Well, at least that’s what my partner, Dinozzo, says. Dinozzo is an expert on movies. He knows the name of every actor and actress. Most of his brilliant ideas he gets from movies. He can be annoying when he starts going on and on about an old show he watched that nobody else on my team cares about but his “skill” has proven useful at times.

“Are you alright Rodney?” the man asked. I smiled and nodded. “How about you sit down,” he insisted.

                Rodney McKay

What am I doing here? I found a small stone in a box in one of the science labs while I was working with Zelinka. I knew I saw that stone some were before. I still can’t remember where. I picked up the stone and next thing I knew I was sitting here on this bus. I looked out the window. The place was familiar. I had been here before. When I was ten years old my parents took me here. I was in Washington DC. It was raining outside just as it was when I came here as a child. How did I get here? I realized I was still holding in the palm of my hand that stone I found in Atlantis. How did this stone and I get from a whole other galaxy to earth? Don’t get me wrong, I missed home but I’m not supposed to be here. Zelinka needed me to backing him up when he messed something up. No other scientist is smart enough to be working in that lab except I. Of course, Woolsey insisted Zelinka “help.” The bus came to a stop. I got off to see I was right in front of a tall building with the letters NCIS on it. “Timmy, what are you doing just standing there looking at the building?” a woman that looked like she couldn’t be older than 20 ask. She had straight black hair done up in pig tails. She had a cheerful smile, something I hadn’t seen in a long time. She was dressed in a black T-shirt with a picture of a scull on the front. She had a black and red skirt with black and red leggings. She had black shoes that went up to her knees and a spiked dog collar around her neck. McKay looked over at a window on the building. He saw many people working inside but he was startled by the reflection of a man who looked a lot like him but he was different. The man staring back at him didn’t have his glare in his eyes, he was much thinner, and was dressed very well as though he were going to a wedding. The young woman grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into the building. I wanted to tell her I’m not who she thinks I am but I couldn’t tell her about Atlantis because she would need security clearance.

                Timothy McGee

“Where am I?” I asked. The man looked at me like I was crazy.

“Rodney?” he held out his hand. “I’m taking you to the infirmary,” he told me. I sighed; I didn’t know the man’s name. I couldn’t prove I was alright. Probably because I wasn’t alright, I mean, I was in another person’s body. The man walked with me to the medical room. This building was really big. I thought I was under ground. I sat on one of the beds. I knew this was pointless, I highly doubted the doctors could tell if someone else’s conscious was inside someone’s body. The medical room was also highly technological. In this room the walls were an indigo color. The man who brought me to the room left. I suspected he and Rodney McKay didn’t get along usually. The doctor walked over to me. She had long blond hair tide back in a pony tail. She had a bright smile like McGee’s friend Abby. Abby always smiles, she’s almost always in a good mood but when she’s not you don’t want to be her bad side. She is the forensic scientist where I work. I’m an NCIS agent. NCIS is similar to FBI but NCIS is for the Navy only.

“Rodney, are you still getting goose bumps?” I didn’t know what to tell her so I said yes. She told me to stay out of cold places. Then she told me to tell Zelinka he needs to come get his medications. Zelinka? Who’s Zelinka? I smiled and nodded. “Are we still on for dinner tonight?” She asked. I told her I would be there only because I didn’t want this Rodney to lose his girl friend.

                Rodney McKay

I searched the large room helplessly for a desk that had the name McGee on it. “McGeek!” I heard someone shout. I looked over at the man. He looked back at me.

“McGeek?” I asked. I was sure that the person who owned this body was name McGee. That’s what the girl with black pig tails called me. The woman sitting at one of the other desks who was studying very hard looked up at me.

“McGee, you look confused.” She looked concerned. She had long dark wavy hair.

“I thought I told you to take the day off,” a man joined the conversation. I didn’t know this man but he kind of freak me out. Not much scares me, the great Rodney McKay. Well, maybe some things scare me like lemons, life sucking aliens and my friend Ronan but that’s another story. I saw an empty cubical sitting in the middle of the room and on the desk was the name Timothy McGee. I saw names on the other desks as well. The man who called me McGeek had the name Anthony Dinozzo; the woman across from him had the name Ziva David. The scary man sat at a desk with the name Leroy Jethro Gibbs. “I want you to go help Abby,” Gibbs told me.

“Do you remember how to get to Abby’s lab?” Dinozzo teased.

“No,” I whispered. Gibbs and Ziva stopped everything they were doing and just stared at me. Dinozzo laughed but stopped as soon as Ziva gave him the evil eye.

“Go home McGee” Gibbs ordered. I frowned and told them I didn’t know where I lived. Gibbs sat up from his slouch. “Ziva, will you please get McGee to a doctor?”

I then told Ziva. “I’m fine,” I tried to convince them. They most likely thought that because I am so much smarter than this McGee, something must be wrong. Nobody is smarter than me.

                Timothy McGee

I was searching for a place in this huge building that looked like a restaurant. The doctor spoke nothing of where we would be eating so I hoped that there was only one dining room. That’s when I saw a door open and people walk out of the small room. I quickly ran into that room. I thought it must have been an elevator. A small computer screen with a picture of what I thought was a snow flake was sitting there in the elevator so I touched it. I don’t remember why I touched it. Then there was a bright flash of light. I didn’t feel the elevator move but I felt as though I was torn apart into billions of pieces then put back together. It didn’t hurt; I just went numb and senseless. I was unaware of everything. I had lost sense of time so for all I know I could have been like that for hundreds of years or it could have been only a short moment. However long it was, I was in a completely different place. I had somehow transported to another room. I didn’t think teleportation was possible. I thought this was amazing and then as I stepped out of the transporter I saw a window. I thought we were underground but I was very wrong. We were in the middle of the ocean. As far as I could see was water. This building I thought I was in was the size Washington DC. This massive city seemed to be floating in an ocean. There were many towers sticking up out of it. I figured I must have been in a tower as well. A man walked up to me and told me we needed to talk. That man wore a red and gray jacket and glasses. He was bald but he had dark hair at the back of his head. He looked like he was sad but he tried so hard to hide it. If only Abby were here. She would hug him and never let go. She’s so caring. She hates to see people upset. I smiled at the man hoping to lighten his day but he just gave me a weird look and asked if I was having a good day. Did this Rodney McKay never smile?

                Rodney McKay

I have to admit, I miss Atlantis. I’m used to being around a bunch of relatively smart people (none of which are even close to being as smart as me) but everybody here is brain dead. The doctor said that because I don’t have a concussion and my sociological profile is normal I’m fine. They didn’t even scan my brain. If I end up with that second childhood again then they aren’t going to know until it’s too late again! I walked out of the room to find Ziva and Dinozzo standing in the rain. “You are not ill?” She asked.

“That’s what they say but with technology like that I guess we won’t know until it’s too late.”

“They gave you a paper. What does it say?” She asked.

“They say I’m faking amnesia” I laughed. Moments later we heard a gross revolting sound. We turned around and saw a man kneeling on the floor with a puddle of orange in front of him. The short man with scruffy blond hair stayed there with drool running down his face.

“You have got to be joking,” I mumbled.

“Ziva, how about you go help that man clean up his lunch.” laughed Dinozzo.

“I would not touch that with a ten foot stick!” She hissed.

I stared at her blankly for a moment. “You mean poll?” I asked.

“Or stick,” she closed her eyes and turned around.

                Timothy McGee

I now know the names of everyone. Well, everyone that I apparently am friends with. Woolsey, the guy I was talking to in the hall earlier, gave me a computer and told me he missed the days I “dabbled” in my free time. These people basically have their own internet system. I thought this was awesome and then I read about the location of this base. I’m in Atlantis! The lost city of Atlantis! And the city isn’t in the middle of the Pacific Ocean or anything. It’s in the ocean on another planet in another galaxy!!! After I found this out I figured I must be dreaming but this city is far too complicated to be a dream. Abby’s going to be so excited when I tell her! I checked my pockets. Oh, one problem. I don’t have a cell phone and even if I did there isn’t very good cell phone reception here. I don’t know how I got here and I really have no clue how I’m going to go home. I give up. If this is a dream I want to wake up. I got down on my knees in the middle of the crowded hall. “Please! Somebody help me!” I cried out. A short woman with light brown hair (Tayla Emagann) and a tall man with long dark dread locks (Ronnan Dex) stopped and looked at me blankly for a moment.

“Rodney? Are you alright?” Tayla asked.

“I’m not Rodney!” I admitted.

“Meredith?” Ronnan asked.

“No! I’m not your Rodney McKay! I’m Timothy McGee!” I shouted at them starting to get annoyed. Ronnan held out his hand to me. I reached out and grabbed it and he pulled me up. Tayla looked concerned but Ronnan had a rather blank face. They walked with me to the infirmary.

                Rodney McKay

Ziva stood with her back to the man on the floor. I watched him stumble as he got up. When he finally stood up he stated charging at me like an angry bull. Then the thing I feared almost as much as Ronnan and life sucking aliens pinning me to a wall and feeding me lemons happened. The drooling man covered in what was once most likely his lunch fell into my arms and told me he wanted to see Dr Frankenstein. “Good luck with that,” I said as I dropped him on the ground and stepped back. That’s when Gibbs walked up to us.

“Ziva, McGee, help the man clean up and find his doctor,” Gibbs ordered.

“Yes boss,” Ziva said without thinking about it. I looked at McGee’s scary boss then I looked at the sick man on the ground.

“Ewe no! Its puke, he can deal with it himself!” I turned green. Gibbs walked up closer to me and all the muscles in my body got tense. Then he slapped me on the back of the head really, really hard. Let me tell you, I was not pleased but there was some instinct that I had never had before to do exactly as my boss said. Yes, I just said MY boss. I know he is McGee’s boss but until McGee is there to be bossed I have to take his place. I miss being the boss.

                Timothy McGee

I laid there strapped to the infirmary bed. I didn’t want to hurt anyone or anything and even if they had untied me, I probably wouldn’t have gotten up but the fact that I was tied down made me want to pull myself loose. I tugged on the ropes until Woolsey and another man came into the room. The other man had black hair and a smile. I read this man’s profile, his name is John Shepherd. According to his records he isn’t good with following commands and he rarely takes things seriously. I liked this John.

“So, you’re not Dr Rodney McKay?” Woolsey asked. I told him I was not Rodney McKay and that I was Special agent Timothy McGee.

“Special agent of what?” John asked.

“NCIS, Naval Criminal Investigative Service. NCIS is in Washington DC” I explained.

“So, we believe you. Now, how did you get into McKay’s body?” Woolsey asked. Woolsey was very intimidating in every word he spoke.

“I was on a bus and I found a rock on my seat. I picked it up and somehow appeared here.” “You got here using a magical rock?” Woolsey sighed. He did not believe me.

“It happened before,” John tried to remind Woolsey.

“It has?” I asked.

“Yes, but McKay would know better than to pick a rock up that even looked remotely like the one Dr Keller held.” Woolsey subjected.

“Well, you know what McKay is like. Arrogant, bossy, a lot less smart then he tries to lead us all to believe.”

“Well, that explains why nobody here likes me,” I sighed. The two men looked at each other puzzled then they turned around and walked out of the room.

“Are you going to untie me?” I yelled. They ignored me and the sliding door shut.

                Rodney McKay

“There’s no place like home,” I whispered as I tapped my heels together. Nothing happened. “It was worth a try,” I sighed. I was sitting on a wet bench in the cold night. I was told to go home. I miss my home and I have no clue where McGee lives. I was sure I would be stuck here in the rain all night but that’s when it accord to me. I could call my sister. She has security clearance so I could tell her everything and maybe she could get me out of this situation.

                Timothy McGee

They agreed to let me go but John is going to Washington DC with me so we can find McKay and hopefully figure out how to switch back to our normal bodies. We’re going to NCIS to find him. Hopefully he stays in DC and doesn’t run off thinking he’s crazy or something.

                Rodney McKay

My sister somehow got me into the SGC. Sam Carter must have agreed to let me in. I’m standing here in front of the wormhole. We were going to dial Atlantis but they got here first. There was an incoming wormhole. It was Atlantis. Through the Stargate walked John and myself. I almost passed out. This man had my body and that is just an awful feeling. I ran down stairs to meet McGee just like a child greeting a friend at the door. “Rodney!” John shouted. I missed hearing my name.

“John!” I shouted back. I hugged him and almost started crying.

“This is awkward,” McGee said. I let go of Shepherd right away. McGee was right. This was awkward.

                Timothy McGee

They finally stopped hugging. “Rodney, do you have the stone you had on the bus?” Shepherd asked.

“Yes, of course” McKay reply. I held my stone in my hand. McKay reached into his pocket. That moment I felt the switch.

“I’m me again!” Rodney cheered.

“That easy?” John asked.

I was standing there; I felt my shoulder was wet. Ewe! There was a slimy salve on my arm. “McKay!”

“Hey, it’s not my fault Ziva didn’t want to clean up.” He pleaded. “Oh, by the way. Gibbs is really annoyed at you for refusing to clean the puke and Ziva is annoyed because she had to do it all herself.”

I glared at Rodney. “I wasn’t going to tell you this but you’re supposed to having dinner with Dr Keller in 38… make that 35 seconds.” I lied but I thought he deserved it for getting Gibbs upset.

                Rodney McKay

How could he of missed my date!? “Quick John! We need to get home!”

Radek walked slowly through the city. He knew he would be living here for the next little while but he still didn’t want to miss anything. Rodney was walking by. Zelinka quickly stopped to talk to him. “Carson found a hologram three floors down, if you see doctor Weir she’d probably like to see it as well.

“What is your name again?” Rodney wondered.

“Zelinka” Radek sighed.

“Zelinka! McKay!” one of the scientists yelled. “We have a problem,”

“Yes, yes, I was looking for Dr Weir so I could tell her” McKay bragged. McKay was proud, he was much smarter then all the other scientists. Radek frowned. His boss was arrogant, way too arrogant.

“So what’s the problem?” Zelinka asked.

“The city is sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Thankfully there is a force field holding the water back.” McKay shot out.

Radek was frightened. “What if the force field gives out?”

“Then the city floods and we all die but that’s not going to happen,”

“What makes you so sure it can’t happen?”

“The force field has been holding back the water for thousands of years it’s not going to just give out right after we come,” Rodney said.

“I hope you are right”

“There was an energy spike” the scientist tried to explain but Rodney and Radek just kept talking.

“Of course I’m right. When am I ever wrong?” Rodney laughed sarcastically.

“More often then you would dare to admit”

“Zelinko, I am THE Rodney Mckay. I am always right.”

“It’s Zelinka”

“Yes, yes, Zelinka, Zelinko. Does it really matter what I call you?”

“Anos, ty delta ne Malji byt ano Arogantní,” Zelinka mumbled

“Hello, I’m not Italian. I don’t have a clue what you’re saying.”

“Itallinain. Jako je prase”

“What did you call me?” Rodney said. Radek knew he would be in trouble if he went an further.

“Never mind.”

“I’m smarter then you so you can go work with all the less important scientists. Understand?”

“Anos”

“English”

“Yes”

Radek walked away with his head low. “Jsem třicet pět let, Dnes je moje první den v. I nemohou křik” he mumbled.

“Are you alright?” Ford asked as he was walking by.

“Yes, I am fine” Radek faked a smile. Ford stared at him for a moment.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes” Zelinka said. Ford stood there a moment longer and then he continued walking along.

Radek kept walking. Nobody liked him when he was a child but he had figured that maybe he would make friends here in Atlantis. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he would always be rejected by everyone. “Why doesn’t anyone like me?” he whispered. He let one tear role down his face. Then he smiled so that nobody would know he was crying.

Carson walked over to Rodney. “Please tell me this is not my fault,” he begged.

“No Carson. It’s not.” Rodney sighed. When everyone entered the city everything turned on. There for power levels in the city were dropping rapidly. As soon as they ran out of power the shield would fail and the water would flood the city.

“From what we have been able to find there are three ZPM’s powering the city, two of which are depleted while the third is reaching maximum energy. When it does it will die too and nothing can reverse that.” Rodney explained to everyone in the room.

“Just tell me the bottom line” Cornel Sumner said.

“The force field that is holding back the ocean has collapsed to the minimum sustainable levels.” Rodney said. How could he not understand it? He thought. It was so simple. Rodney brought a map of Atlantis up on the computer. “Look, here and here where the shield has already colasped and the city has already flooded. It could have happened years ago. This room that we are in now is likely protected because this room holds the Stargate.”

“What if it fails completely?” John asked.

“It’s a matter of when, not if.” Rodney said as he walked towards more computers.

“Cornel Sumner, you need to order your men to stop searching the city.” Dr Weir ordered.

“All security teams, fall back to the gate room” Sumner spoke as he turned on his radio that was hooked around his ear.

“It’s not going to be good enough,” Rodney sighed.

“How much time do we have?” Dr Weir asked

“It’s hard to say. Hours, maybe even days if we use as little power as possible.”

“What about our own power generators?” Carson asked

“We are working on that but even with are most advanced naquada generators the equations are coming up far short.”

“So we need to find more ZPM’s” Dr Weir suggested

“How can we do that if we can’t search the city?” Sumner asked

“If there were more here we would be able to detect them,” Rodney said as he pointed at the larger computer screen.

“Can we use the Stargate?” Sumner asked

“There’s no where near enough power to open a wormhole back to earth.”

“Maybe somewhere in this galaxy,” John suggested.

“That’s relatively easy” Rodney concluded. They group looked at each other. Maybe it’ll work, Rodney thought.

“Thankfully some ancients uses good old fashion push bottoms. We just have to access the data base and find a planet that’s supposed to be safe.”

“That’s not all!” shot Peter, who was one of the few scientists that Rodney respected. Peter pressed a button on the DHD. A large white screen of energy covered the Stargate.

“ It’s just like the Iris on the earth gate,” Sumner commented. The Iris was a shield that covered the Stargate so that nothing could pass through that was not supposed to pass through.

“Using power, using power, using power,” Rodney repeated until Peter reached over and turned the shield off.

“This means we don’t have to deal with any uninvited guests”

“Cornel, assemble a team” Dr Weir ordered, “We need a safe place to live or better yet a power source.” Elizabeth said. The cornel ordered Ford to gather security teams one and two over the radio.

“Shepherd, I want you to go too” Elizabeth said. She knew that Sumner didn’t like John. She wanted to give him a chance to prove himself.

“Yes ma’am”, John tried to be solemn but he still smiled.

“Alright,” Dr Weir turned to Rodney and Peter, “Dial a planet”

Rodney pushed a button and waited for it to lock, “Chevron one encoded” he said with a serious face.

“Rodney,” Dr Weir warned Rodney looked at her and frowned.

“Fine” He pushed all eight symbols.

Soon everyone had heard the news. They all knew they were leaving. They all knew why, including Radek. Zelinka searched for McKay until he finally found him. “McKay, I need to talk to you now!” Zelinka insisted.

“Didn’t I tell you to go work with the less important scientists? What was your name, Slinky?” Rodney sighed

“Zelinka, my name is Zelinka.”

“Zelinka, what do you want?”

“Why would the Ancients leave Atlantis this way?”

“Please, speak English.”

“The ancients left the city knowing that whoever occupied it in the future would have this problem.”

“And your point is?”

“Well, weren’t they smart enough to prevent that?”

“Zelinka, they were in the middle of a war. They didn’t have time to mess with things like these.”

“Maybe they did think of some plan B or something.”

“When the ancients sunk the city they intended on coming back themselves. They thought they would come back with a ZPM. If we had a Zero Point Module we could plug it in and save the city but we don’t! Ralinka, we can not save the city so let me get back to work so I can save your life!”

“Me jemno je Zelinka, Radek Zelinka.” Radek sighed.

“I may be the smartest person alive but I don’t speak Japanese! Please, will you just speak English!”

“Říká si je geniuse ale může ani Vzpome si jedno jméno” Zelinka mumbled.

“Fine! Don’t talk to me. Remind me not to vote for you as Atlantian of The Year! Oh, I forgot! If you keep talking to me in who knows what language, I wont be able to complete my work and there for we wont be able to have a vote because we will all be dead! Now move out of my way and let me save your life. Not that I really want to but if I didn’t then I would have a bad reputation!” Rodney was yelling at Radek when Dr Weir walked into the room.

“Well you should stop being so arrogant and start caring about the lives you’re trying so hard to save!”

“I do care! I care about Dr Weir, Peter, John Shepherd, I even care about what’s his name. Ford?”

“It would be nice if you acted like it!”

“McKay! Zelinka!” Dr Weir interrupted, “Will you please stop fighting like your five and start acting like you’re adults!”

“Anos, Za.” Radek sighed

“Radek! We don’t speak German!” Rodney teased.

“Rodney, he’s not German,” Dr Weir said, “Could you say that again in English please?”

“I said sorry,”

“Rodney?” Elizabeth turned to McKay, “Why don’t you go help Peter.”

“I was just going to….”

“Rodney”

“Yes ma’am” Rodney sighed. He turned and walked out of the room very fast.

“Radek,” Dr Weir turned around, “I know how stressed everyone is but you need to try and work through it until we find a way to save the city or a safe place to stay.”

“And then what?”

“Then we will all take a break.”

“Yes ma’am”

“Go find something to do Radek,” Elizabeth smiled. She was so excited, she couldn’t sit still. Sure she might only have a few more hours in it but she was in the lost city of Atlantis. She was special. Not many people got to go to Atlantis. “We have a city to save,” she laughed.

Radek continued on his theory that maybe the ancients did have a plan to save the city. Maybe somewhere it was written down and someone just had to find it. He read the last entry in the ancient data base.

The 8th day of the 4th Melenyon on the 14th hour

Five hive ships orbit the planet. We will attempt to destroy one of the by sending a team onto the ship and over loading the systems which will result in the ships exploding. We are running low on drones. My dear friend Teak’ku will have to create more because he is the only survivor who can build drones. We need him for this so he will not be put in any place of danger. Marluku, my Uncle will be one of the ones to go on the ship and overload the systems. We have lost many of our kind fighting this war but never have we been on the losing side of the battle. We have hid ZPM’s on many planets all of which are settlements of the great enemy.

“We’re evacuating Rat nest!” Rodney walked over to Zelinka.

“You know my name is not Rat nest. You are just trying to annoy me.”

“Sure, but we’re evacuating”

“Why?”

“Uh, I don’t know. Maybe because the shield is about to clasp and the ocean will flood the city.”

“Maybe it’s a lake”

“I doubt it”

“It might be”

“Gentle men” Elizabeth said as she walked in the room. “Does it really matter?”

“Yes!” Radek and Rodney both said at the same time.

“Well you two can bicker when we have finished our evacuation.”

“BUT….” Rodney started to speak

“Rodney, will it matter if the water is salty or fresh when you drown in it?”

“Well actually, I never liked the beach. The salt water always got in my eyes and it burned.”

“How about we evacuate and then you won’t have to worry about getting salt in your eyes.”

“I like that idea,” Radek added, “let’s get out of here and avoid dying all together.”

“What do you think, Rodney?” Dr Weir asked

“Yes, let’s evacuate”

“Good, let’s go”

Everyone was getting ready to leave the city. Dr Weir’s smile had finally left her face. Not many people were smiling. McKay and Weir were arguing. “Never in my wildest dreams should I have to find the lost city of the ancients so completely untouched and we have no choice but to leave it.”

“In order to save it” Rodney added

“To save it for whom? We don’t have enough power to send a message. As far as earth is concerned we’re just going to be a missing loss.”

“We’ll be back; we will find a power source somewhere in Pegasus.”

“We have yet to hear from Cornel Sumner’s team. We have no idea what’s out there!”

“It is time to go now,” Rodney insisted. Elizabeth and Rodney stared at each other a moment long until Dr Weir stepped back and walked away. She turned on her radio and spoke into it.

“Attention all personel, this is Weir,” the city started to shake like a massive earthquake. Elizabeth grabbed the railing in front of her. “Stand by for immediate evacuation!” She shouted. She turned to Rodney who was amongst a bunch of panicked scientist all running in different directions gathering stuff. “Dial the gate!” Radek looked up from the computer he was reading from. Then he looked back down. He had to finish reading this.

I came to realize that the woman from the future might stand a chance if I helped her. It was already decided that there was no way to reverse the effects of the time machine in the limited time we had remaining but because she was so desperate to go home I thought of a way. Secretly against the will of my friends, I put her in stasis so that she could rotate the ZPM’s because one ZPM would die in a thousand years or so. My plan would send her back and give her people another chance. Maybe the next time the city wont…

“Radek, come on!” Rodney shouted. Radek looked at him amazed that Rodney remembered his name.

“I just want to read a bit…”

“Radek! The shield is about to collapse. When it does the city will flood! We need to go now!”

“One second” Radek insisted. Rodney turned to dial the gate. Rodney paused. He looked very confused.

“We’ve got an incoming wormhole,” McKay said shocked.

“I’m reading Lt Ford’s identification code,” Peter announced.

“Let them in!” Weir ordered. Rodney lowered the shield. Radek realized he might have a moment longer.

Maybe the next time the city won’t flood. When the people retake the city in three thousand years and they find they are sunk at the bottom of the ocean they will not be able to supply power enough to save the city from flooding but when the shield collapses…

Radek quickly looked up to see Shepherd and many children coming into the city. Then more people came in through the Stargate. All the people looked around amazed. Zelinka looked back down at the computer and continued to read.

When the shield collapses the city will rise to the top of the ocean. The city will not flood but it will float. After that they will live in Atlantis floating on the ocean without shields but hopefully by then our enemy will not live.

Elizabeth went running down the stairs to the gate. Radek chased her; he had to tell her not to leave.

“Major Shepherd! Who are all these people?” Elizabeth asked.

“Survivors from the settlement, we were attacked! Sumner and some of our men were taken. What’s going on?”

“We are in no position to help anyone right now,”

“What’s going on here?” John asked again.

“We were about to abandon the city!”

“Going back there is a really bad idea.”

“The shield is about to fail and the ocean is about to collapse in on us. Do you have a better place to go?”

“Jinto, do you have another address we can gate to?” John turned to a twelve years old boy.

“Yes, many!” Jinto remembered.

“He’s just a boy” Elizabeth said as Radek ran up to her and tapped her on the shoulder.

“My name is Jinto!” the kid smiled

“She’s pleased to meet you,” John said as he dragged Jinto up to the control room.

“Dr Weir,” Radek said.

“Not now Zelinka,” Dr. Weir pushed him away.

“Elizabeth! Listen to me please!”

“What!?”

“When the shield collapses the city will rise out of the ocean!”

“I don’t understand,”

“The shield has failed!” Rodney shouted

“Elizabeth! Trust me.” Radek tried to stay calm. Dr Weir thought about it for a second. As a leader she had to trust her people. The city shook even harder and she fell backwards. She got up but it was hard to balance. Ford who also tried to get up ran into her by accident.

“I’m dialing an address!” Peter shouted. Radek was on the floor trying to get up.

“NO! Wait!” She called out.

“She’s right,” Rodney confirmed.

“We’re moving!” John shouted. The city continued to shake. Boxes fell on the floor. Radek looked at the stain glass window behind the Stargate. Light was soon shining into the large room. Soon the city stopped shaking. Everyone gathered around the windows to see water dripping down the windows.

“Je Uzasne” he whispered which meant it’s amazing.

Elizabeth, John, Jinto, Ford, Rodney and Peter gathered around a window at the back of the room.

“We’re on the surface!” Ford smiled.

“I was hoping for another day,” Dr Weir said, “Look’s like we’ve got a whole lot more then that. Let’s not waste it.”

John smiled. The ocean went on farther than the eye could see. A large wave, the shape of the city, moved away father and farther. Weir looked back at Radek.

“I have to go tell Dr Zelinka something,” she walked towards him. She held his shoulder. “Radek,” she whispered. Radek looked at her. “Thank you.”

Radek frowned, “I’m sorry I didn’t evacuate. I wasn’t very much help. It wont happen again, I promise.”

“You did good,” Dr Weir assured.

“Neni oprevda,” Radek sighed.

Elizabeth knew what he said. She shook her head. “You did do well.”

Radek lowered his head and looked at the floor. “Každý, kdo nenávidí mě”

“Radek,” Rodney said, “You were right, I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

“It is alright Rodney. You could of very easily have been right.”

“Well, I wasn’t. Where are you from anyway?”

“Czech”

“Rodney!” Elizabeth shouted. “Let’s start cleaning up!”
